RENATA FERRAZ
Filmmaker-researcher-actress. I navigate the territories where my films and texts intersect, living between worlds. I worked as a theater actress for 20 years and now enjoy opportunities to perform in films. I create films, multimedia objects, and shared-creation worlds. I make films with cis, trans women, and non-binary individuals who challenge normativity, as well as with other living beings different from humans. I position myself in front of and behind the camera alongside the characters portrayed. I am constantly in a process of transformation, and my films reflect the experimentation that is my life.
Today, I am a researcher at Labcom/iArtes (UBI) and a collaborator at CIEBA (ULisboa). While developing the script for my next film, I am following the journey of my first feature film, “Rua dos Anjos” (Rising Sun Blues), which won awards at the Ann Arbor Film Festival, Queer Porto, and was nominated for the Youth Award at Sheffield DocFest. My short films can be seen at renataferraz.com.
