JOÃO ROSAS
Born in Lisbon on November 2, 1981, João Rosas studied Communication Sciences and Film in Lisbon, Bologna, and London, supported by a Gulbenkian Foundation scholarship. He also received a scholarship for the “Works” research project on depictions of labor in film.
He is the author of three books of short stories and films like “A Minha Mãe é Pianista“ (2005), “Birth of a City” (2009), “Entrecampos“ (2012), and “Maria do Mar“ (2015), which premiered in Locarno and received awards in Portugal, Spain, and Brazil. His latest film, “Catavento“ (2020), won Best Short Film at BAFICI 2021 and received a Special Jury Mention at the 18th Brive Film Festival. He is currently preparing his first feature fiction film.
