JOANA CAIANO 

Young portuguese filmmaker, born in Lisbon in 2000. She graduated with a degree in Film from the Arts University of Bournemouth in England (2022). Since then, Joana has worked on narrative projects, music videos, and commercials between Lisbon and London. Her first short film, “42”, has traveled worldwide, receiving awards and official selections in festivals like the Quito International Film Festival, Four River Film Festival, and Porto Femme, among others. At the end of 2024, the short film “Lives at Steak”, written by Julia Grogan, winner of the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe and the 2020 ETPEP Award, will begin its international distribution circuit. Her documentary feature “A Cabeça não é um Sítio Seguro”, produced by SoproFilmes (2023) with support from ICA and RTP, will premiere in 2025.

Joana loves working closely with actors to create captivating stories and is eager to keep exploring the world of cinema.
